Making Our Discourse a Little Bit Clearer

"Quires"–a somewhat obsolete word for any collection of pages within a manuscript, and the more commonly used "quirks" illustrate the vagaries of English—of all language. Changing one letter changes everything.

Of course the trickiness of English goes well beyond that, but rather than throw our hands in the air and say "I quit," let's have a look at some difficulties. 

 

There are words that give us trouble and words that don't. Then there are those words that are giving us trouble and we don't even know it. Sometimes ignorance is bliss: if you agree, this is not the spot for you.
